Creating Report Artifacts in Petavue

Every analysis deserves a strong finish. Once you’ve explored your data and uncovered meaningful patterns, the next step is sharing those insights in a way that moves your team to act. That’s where Petavue’s Report Artifact comes in.

A Report Artifact turns your findings into a clear, executive-ready summary, something your colleagues can read, discuss, and use to make decisions. Whether you’re presenting marketing performance results or summarizing product analytics, these reports help you translate complex analysis into focused storytelling that inspires action.

Artifact Report workflow at a glance

Creating a report in Petavue is a conversational and iterative process.

  1. Run the analysis, then request a report. Begin with a question, review the plan, and execute.

  2. Modify and refine. Use follow-up prompts to adjust content, tone, and structure until it fits your audience.

  3. Add new insights. Run additional analyses and merge the latest findings into the same report.

  4. Download and share. When it’s ready, export the report and distribute it to your stakeholders.

We’ll walk through each step in detail below.

Step 1: Generate Your First Report

Once you’ve completed an end-to-end analysis in Petavue (see Performing Analysis in Petavue: A Step-by-Step Guide), creating a report is the natural next step. You don't need any special commands; just ask for it in plain language.

After a successful analysis, try one of these prompts:

  • “Could you create a report based on the above analysis?” Or:
  • “Can you write me an executive summary of this?”

Petavue will instantly generate a structured document that appears on the right side of your screen. This report will typically include sections like:

  • Top Highlights
  • Key Insights
  • Recommendations
  • Critical Observations
  • Potential Data Gaps
  • Links to the specific reports generated during the analysis

Step 2: Modify and Refine the Report

The first draft of the report is a starting point. Petavue is designed for you to refine it conversationally until it perfectly matches your needs. Here are the common modifications you can make through follow-up prompts.

A. Change Specific Content

If you need to add a detail or rephrase a point for clarity, simply tell Petavue what to change.

Example Prompt: “In the 'Key Insights' section, please change the sentence about campaign performance to mention the impact on the enterprise segment specifically.”

B. Adjust Verbosity

You can easily control the level of detail in your report. If it’s too wordy or too brief, just ask for an adjustment.

Example Prompts:

  • “Make this report more concise and focus only on the main takeaways.”
  • “Can you elaborate on the 'Recommendations' section? Please provide more detail for each point.”
C. Reorder Sections

The structure of the report is flexible. If you want to highlight the most important information first, you can change the order of the sections.

Example Prompt: “Move the 'Recommendations' section to the top of the report, immediately after the introduction.”

D. Remove a Section

If a section isn’t relevant to your audience, you can remove it completely.

Example Prompt: “Please remove the 'Data Gaps' section from the report.”

Step 3: Iteratively Update the Report with New Analysis

A single report can evolve as your analysis deepens. Imagine you first analyze your lead journey and create a report. Now, you want to add insights about the bottom of the funnel. You can run a new analysis and then merge the results into your original report.

  1. First, perform your follow-up analysis (e.g., "Now analyze the conversion rates for deals in the final pipeline stage").

  2. Once Petavue provides the results, instruct it to update your existing report.

Example Prompt: “This is great. Please add these latest insights about deal conversion to the report we created earlier. Put it in a new section called 'Bottom-of-Funnel Conversion Insights'.” You can continue this cycle, running new analyses and folding the results into a single, comprehensive document.

Important Note on Context: For the highest accuracy, Petavue’s conversational context is optimized to consider the last 10 messages. When you ask to update a report, please ensure the report you are referring to was generated or modified within that recent conversation window.

Step 4: Download Your Report

Once you are satisfied with the content and structure of your Report Artifact, you can easily export it. Simply click the Download button located at the top of the report panel to save a copy for sharing with stakeholders via email, Slack, or other platforms.
